The government is giving out cash assistance for groceries through the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme, and you might qualify! Here’s how to check if you’re eligible and how to use your benefits:

How to Check Your MyKasih/SARA Eligibility

Step 1:
Go to the official MyKasih portal:  
https://app.mykasih.net/sara2/checkstatus

Step 2:  
Enter your 12-digit MyKad (IC) number (without dashes) and the captcha code. Click "Semak Status".
- If you’re eligible, you’ll see “Layak” and the amount you’re entitled to.
- If not eligible, no record will be shown.

Step 3:
Eligible recipients can download the MyKasih app to monitor monthly balances and transactions easily.

Step 4:
To see which supermarkets are nearby, click “Senarai Kedai” on the MyKasih site. Participating stores include Econsave, Giant, Lotus’s, Lulu Hypermarket, Mydin, and more.

How to Redeem Your SARA Assistance

  • Purchase Essentials: Use your MyKad at checkout to buy approved items in 13 categories (see below).
  • First-Time Use: For your first purchase, enter a temporary password (the first 6 digits of your IC), then set a new password.
  • Funds Are Credited Automatically: The assistance is credited to your MyKad monthly. Don’t forget to bring your IC when shopping!

Who Qualifies & How Much Can You Get?
SARA 2025 Assistance Amounts

STR & eKasih Recipients:

  • Households: RM2,100 total (RM100/month Jan–Mar, RM200/month Apr–Dec)
  • Senior Citizens (No Spouse):RM1,650 total (RM100/month Jan–Mar, RM150/month Apr–Dec)
  • Singles:** RM600 (RM50/month all year)

STR-Only Recipients:

  • Households: RM900 (RM100/month Apr–Dec)
  • Senior Citizens (No Spouse): RM450 (RM50/month Apr–Dec)

Note: SARA 2025 is expanded nationwide, including Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan.

What Can You Buy with SARA?
Your SARA funds can be used for approved essentials only. There are 13 main categories, including:

  1. Rice (various brands)
  2. Bread (Gardenia, Massimo, etc.)
  3. Eggs
  4. Cooking oil
  5. Flour
  6. Biscuits
  7. Instant noodles
  8. Milk & drinks (Milo, Dutch Lady, etc.)
  9. Canned food (sardines, baked beans, etc.)
  10. Seasonings (salt, sugar, sauces)
  11. Hygiene products (soap, detergent, shampoo)
  12. Medicines (basic OTC)
  13. School supplies (stationery, exercise books)

Tip: Look for the MyKasih label on supermarket shelves to ensure your items are eligible.

Important Dates
Monthly credits: SARA is credited to your MyKad from 1 April 2025 onwards, paid monthly.
Expanded coverage: Now includes Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan.
