No doubt this place in the northeast of Peninsular Malaysia presents some of the most diverse culture, dialect, and most importantly, the food! Yes, I’m talking about Kelantan. The local dishes that they have there is pretty colourful and delicious in their unique way. From nasi kerabu, sup belut, nasi tumpang, laksam, khao jam, ayam percik, nasi dagang and many more.
With all of this food listed, you shouldn’t feel the need to travel to Kelantan to only enjoy them, you can now get these delicacies in KL/PJ area too! Let’s delve right in.
1.Restoran Nasi Kerabu Keramat

One of the most famous and authentic Kelantanese dishes they have here is the nasi tumpang or the locals Kelantan would call them as nasi tupe. The rice with a different layer of dishes wrapped in a cone shape with banana leaf. It is tightly packed with an omelette, local curry, beef or fish floss and cucumbers. All in one go. Besides that, they source for the freshest ingredients and also does delivery straight to the comfort of your home.

Take a breather and pit stop at this USJ Subang Jaya place for your dose of good and delicious nasi kerabu and many more. This place can be packed during lunch hours by working adults, and families. One of the reasons on top of it being a good spot, it is also budget-friendly. Their motto translated is an affordable price, five stars taste. Their nasi kak wok is a type of rice dish that features freshly steamed rice eaten with crispy bits of ayam goreng kunyit. The dish is complemented by some sambal belacan and chicken curry. 3. Restoran Tuu Dok Ko 1488
This restaurant is famous during breakfast timing and is a favourite spot for many if you’re around Batu Caves area because that’s where this place is located at. Their nasi dagang proves to be a great best seller here. It consists of rice cooked in coconut milk with fenugreek seeds, lemongrass and sliced shallots on top. Plus add in with fish or meat curry. Their famous laksam meal is also one of the best here.

4. Capital Nasi Dagang Kelantan

Formerly this restaurant is situated in the heart of the capital of Kelantan in Kota Bharu, it has now moved to Damansara Utama side. Apart from the basic combination of rice and curry, Nasi Dagang usually comes with its different components which can be combined to suit the diner’s taste. From a simple serving of the steamed rice and ikan tongkol (tuna alike) curry and completed with vegetable pickle, sambal and half-boiled egg. Many people from all walk of life come to dine here. Maybe it’s time for you to get your nasi dagang filled food too?

6. Kelate Kitchen
Sticking true to its name, Kelate Kitchen is a restaurant that serves some of the best and variety of local Kelantanese food. Don’t be surprised by the long queue during lunch hours as most are there to grab the famous Nasi Kukus King. Among their other items that are good as well is the kambing bakar, fish, and their honey the tarik special. However, for those of you who are a spicy food addict, you should try their mix of spicy-sour chilli taste and the sambal.

In Gombak, this small restaurant has swept the locals there with their authentic Kelantanese food ranging from nasi dagang gulai ayam, nasi kerabu daging goreng, varieties of nasi berlauk and many more. Famous in Kampung Padang Balang area, if you want to experience the freshness of the meal itself, you must be able to line up as early as 7 am to enjoy the food, if not you’ll be lining up for a long time. Also, after a meal, make sure try some of their rare kuih like Akok telur, cek mek molek and lepat pisang.
