The Oldest Hanok in Seoul, Korea turns Modern Cafe

J. Hidden House is one of the largest and oldest registered hanok (traditional Korean House) in Central Seoul, Korea. It was registered in 1915 and has stood the test of time for over a century. The American-educated Proprietor has decided to open the historic hereditary home kept in their family for five generations to the public as a cafe and cultural platform for special events. This hidden gem in Seoul gained a lot of interest from tourists and locals for its beauty and tranquillity that transports you through another time right in the heart of the busiest shopping area of Dongdaemun. Despite the hanok being 100+ year-old, it is restored in a contemporary minimalist style, the tasteful blend of traditional and modern design is breathtakingly beautiful. What impressed us the most is the huge authentic wooden beams as well as precious family heirlooms displayed throughout. Truly an unforgettable experience in peaceful ambiance with Instagram-friendly photo spots at every corner!
